The 2023 Global Financial Centres Index 33rd Edition

Z/Yen has released the 2023 Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI 33rd Edition) on 23rd March 2023, providing evaluations of future competitiveness and rankings for 120 financial centres around the world.  The top financial centre in 2023 is New York, and in the top 5 are New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco. The top 5 financial centres in Asia-Pacific are Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Shenzhen, top 5 financial centres in Europe are London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich and the top 5 financial centres in North America are New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston.  The top 5 banking centres are New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Chicago, Shenzhen, Los Angeles, Boston and the top 5 investment management centres are New York, London, Shanghai, Singapore, Luxembourg.  The GFCI serves as a valuable reference for policy and investment decision-makers.  130 financial centres were researched for GFCI 33 of which 120 are in the main index. The GFCI is compiled using 153 instrumental factors. These quantitative measures are provided by third parties including the World Bank, the Economist Intelligence Unit, the OECD and the United Nations.  The instrumental factors are combined with financial centre assessments provided by respondents to the GFCI online questionnaire.
